Alpha, Beta, Gamma Hemolysis!

This is a way where we categorize the Strep bacteria. In alpha Hemolysis, the blood in the Blood agar plate where the bacteria are cultured, is hemolysed Incompletely(giving a green colour on the agar plate). In Beta Hemolysis, blood is completely hemolysed. And in Gamma hemolysism there is No hemolysis.

Since there is no order…it’s confusing.

Remember this!

Innocent Anna, Can Be , No Gangster

  • Innocent Anna – Incomplete ; Alpha
  • Can Be – Complete ; Beta
  • No Gangster – None ; Gamma

Thanks, hope it helped!
